Garbage Disposals:
An electrical device that is mounted under the kitchen sink meant to chop and shred food waste so that it is small enough to fit down the drain.
Common Problems:
- Smells bad

- Humming noise
- Not turning on
- Jammed
Keeping it Healthy:
- Watch for items that might fall in – silverware, baby forks and spoons, can lids, bottle caps or anything that is smaller than a baseball.
- Use daily
- Run ice cubes once a week - helps to maintain cleanliness
- Always run COLD water when using the disposal. Hot water tends to melt cheese and chunks of grease causing them to melt and re-solidify and clogging the drain.
- NEVER put oil and grease down your sink drain!
