Water Softener Repair and Installation

What is a water softener?
A water softener is a device that reduces the hardness of the water by breaking down minerals in the water such as Calcium, Magnesium & ferrous iron and others.
Common problems
If your softener is left unmaintained, the deficiencies can then lead other plumbing issues.
      • Pipe corrosion
      • Flow problems
      • Soap Curding in drains
Other problems can be high Iron Content (which may cause rusting), and general repair for motor and other parts.
Maintaining a water Softener
Brine tank should be inspected every 3 to 4 months.
If using rock salt, the brine tank should be inspected more often
Know the humidity in your area
The higher the humidity keep your salt level lower in the tank and refill it more often.
Decide what type of salt to use:
      • Evaporated Salt
      • Rock Salt
      • Solar Salt
Salt levels should be checked often
If there is a high amount of iron in the water supply, the resin bed should be checked every month to see if iron deposits have built up.
